In further pushing the definition of the viola, I want to relook at the threshold and capacity to take on different tonal and timbral guise via retuning or scordatura. The implications of scordatura, often inhibits or exhibits traits in the instrument's character. Scordatura also changes the "bearings" of the instrument.
